Lauren is an incoming senior at San Antonio Christian School, and this girl is just JOY. Her radiant smile erupts into a fantastic laugh, and we had a blast shooting her rep images! Lauren is smart, funny, athletic, and has an incredible sense of humor. Stories about goofy pranks she pulls on friends and crazy dances (yes, I got to see) are just part of her awesomeness. I am so thrilled to have her as part of my 2018 Senior Rep Team!
She started the day being pampered at Jax Studio with the amazing Jax on makeup and Olivia on hair. These ladies totally took the vision I described for the shoot, ran with it, and rocked it!! Having your hair and makeup done for your senior session is so much fun, and each of my senior reps this year has loved it!! They looked and felt like models!
Lauren and I talked about a fun, boho vibe for this session, but gave it a fun twist by playing in MY NEW STUDIO SPACE! It was a blast and she nailed it! The studio has such a great look and it worked perfectly for this session. We used the whole building, from staircases to hallways to the studio space itself. The studio has gorgeous light, exposed brick, and yummy distressed wood floors. It’s a great option for head shots and senior portraits. (Rain? No problem!) I love the way Lauren’s personality and expressions - from soft to sweet to silly - shine through in her images!
We are already booking for summer sessions for the Class of 2018 - call today and let’s plan how we’ll tell your story!!
One of the most common questions I get from clients is, "What should I/we wear for our portrait session?" This is an important question, as the wardrobe you choose has a definite impact on the portraits we will capture together. I have some tips below to keep in mind as you are making clothing selections. Please know that I am here to help you plan the look you want so that these images capture the best of who you are, look fabulous, and make you smile every time you see them.
So, here are some things to keep in mind:
• Wear something that not only looks great, but also makes you feel great. The more confident you feel in an outfit, the more relaxed you will be in front of the camera.• For family portraits, dark colors work best. They highlight skin and hair tones and make eyes pop. White shirts really only look great at the beach. • It is NOT necessary to match! You want the outfits to look great together and coordinate. Use colors that complement each other, and try to stick to a palette of three colors or so if you can.• For seniors, anything goes color wise, but make sure what people will notice first is YOU, not your outfit.• Don't be afraid of texture and layers! Jackets, vests, scarves, etc. look great and add interest to a portrait. Hats can be fun for an individual portrait.• Long sleeves work best for most people. Very few of us love the way our bare arms look in a photograph. With sleeveless, consider adding a wrap or layer of some kind as an option.• Dark shoes are best - No white sneakers! :) • Same goes for socks. Guys, we WILL see your socks at some point, no matter what you think won't happen. Trust me on this. ;)• Check your nails. Chipped polish will show. Neutrals are best if you have polished nails.• Hair should be clean and smooth (that doesn’t mean straight), and makeup should define and enhance your features. A good rule of thumb is to wear what you would normally wear with a bit more definition.
